Trott and Pietersen steadied England with an unbeaten partnership of 65 runs for the third wicket.Trott's dream run at Lord's continued as he hit his seventh half-century that came shortly after Zaheer Khan went off the field after pulling up his hamstring.Zaheer was India's wrecker-in-chief as he dismissed both the England openers.Zaheer had England captain Andrew Strauss caught by Ishant Sharma at fine-leg for the second breakthrough after lunch.

Strauss and Trott took England to 43/1 at lunch.

Zaheer trapped Alastair Cook plumb in front of the wicket to give India the first breakthrough.

The breakthrough came after Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni won the toss and chose to bowl in overcast conditions.

The first Test between number one team India and third ranked England is the 100th Test between the two sides and also the 2000th in the history of the game.
