Weather Chicago


Weather Chicago Hello Chicagoland We are already at 80 degrees at 6 AM! Just goes to show how hot today is going to be! We are looking at a high near 98 degrees with no relief at night as temps should bottom out in the low 80s. The NWS has put out a Special Weather Statement regarding this heat, an updated version can be found below. We remind you to check out the beach forecast section for today's beach conditions for Chicago Park District and Illinois State park beaches.

Cloudy with periods of rain and gusty storms. Lows near 61. in the morning with gusty or severe storms possible through noon. The threat is large hail and damaging winds. The afternoon will become partly sunny with highs climbing into the low 80s, but only 70s along Wisconsin line. The overnight lows will be near 65.Tuesday afternoon a cold front triggers some gusty storms and showers. By Thursday we will cool back to the 70s with pleasant conditions and isolated showers continuing into the weekend.

Weather Chicago Thunderstorms have been flaring up much of the day to the north across Wisconsin, but as a cold front approaches the area from the west, the Storm Prediction Center in Norman, Oklahoma is contemplating issuing severe weather watches for areas just to the north and west of the Chicago area. While the initial watch issuance may not include the city of Chicago, it is quite likely that later watches will. The entire Chicago Metro area is in the "slight risk" category for severe thunderstorms. Should severe weather develop into the Chicago area later this evening, the most likely onset would be in the 9pm-11pm time frame.

Cooler weather will move in after the thunderstorms and cold front pass with Thursday's highs expected to be in the 60s, down 30 degrees or more from today's 90s.The potentially dangerous heat prompted warnings from the city's Department of Emergency Management about staying hydrated and checking on senior neighbors.Extreme heat and humidity is more than just an inconvenience," Chicago Health Commissioner Bechara Choucair said during a press conference Tuesday. "It is dangerous and in some cases can be deadly."Chicago residents are urged to call 311 for assistance in case of emergency and to find cooling center locations, open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
