The app is free.London Taxi Meter, iPhone. 59p This app is a fare calculator that works out how much you should expect to pay if you take a black cab. It's based on official Transport for London tariffs so there's a note of caution that your fare will vary according to traffic, road works and so on. But you can indicate when you want to travel - Sunday evenings may give a cheaper fare than Monday rush hour. Also has general taxi fare information.Dogs London, iPhone. £1.79
If you're a dog owner then you'll know your local dog-friendly parks, for sure. But this canine-friendly listings app shows the nearest pubs that welcome four-legged friends, as well as kennels and vets. It's not comprehensive but has the advantage that you can add your own rating. Details load even if you're not online, so you can plan your journey while on the Tube, if Bruno will just sit still for one minute.Toiluxe central London edition, iPhone. 59p
Spend 59p to spend a penny. If you're in central London and wish you'd gone before you came out, this app will guide you to the nearest public toilets. Markers appear on the map to show where to go, measured in yards, metres or minutes' walk - although there are no directions. Some are basic descriptions, others have more elaborate explanations of where in the building you need to go. Maybe you'll never need it, but if you do, you'll be grateful you have it.
